Dear Madison Community,

On the behalf of Oakland County’s most dynamic teaching and support staff, I’m excited to welcome you to our school.

Our priorities at Madison remain as strong as ever. We will serve families, and meet the needs of all learners, every day. Our teachers and staff will continue to build relationships with all students and engage them with meaningful instruction that builds real-life connections with the curriculum.

The 2018-19 school year brings new opportunities and experiences for our school.

In our expanded MAMC program (Michigan Advanced Manufacturing Collaboration), students will experience innovative hands-on learning, through integrated mathematics, engineering and the use of on-site manufacturing. These methods will prepare our students to be critical thinkers who will compete in a global economy for jobs that may not yet exist.

Our first ever Madison Academy honors cohort kicked off this fall. This technology-based, four-year, cross-curricular and collaborative program allows students to grow and learn together, while preparing for a paid internship in their field of study in year four.

We’ve added new Advanced Placement classes, increased our after-school tutoring opportunities and are proud to continue our partnership with the Princeton Review for SAT exam preparation.

Our menu of clubs seems to expand every month. Our FIRST Robotics club remains as popular as ever, but we’ve added a few more we hope your student explores.

I encourage students and parents to be actively involved and form a productive partnership with us, in order to ensure every student achieves academic excellence. Both parents and students now have individual access to their MiStar Portals, to follow grades and assignments in real-time. In addition, every teacher’s email address and Schoology page can be found in the staff directory. And don’t forget about our AM Testing Center. If your student misses an assessment or would like an opportunity to re-take it for a better grade, connect with the teacher to make arrangements to do so in the AM Testing Center – Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 8 am.

I’m excited for this school year and thankful for the opportunity to help lead Madison High School for many years to come.

Parents, I hope you’ll stop by for one of our monthly Coffees with the Principal or join us for dessert at our monthly Principal’s Evening Reports. We’ve added the dates in our calendar and will be adding more soon.

Here’s to a terrific 18-19!
